About Me

ruth3

A native Floridian, I grew up on a farm in northern Madison County, Florida, and am the second of six children born to Murphy and Doris Everett. After graduating from Madison High School and North Florida Junior College (now North Florida Community College), I transferred to Florida State University, where I earned a Bachelor’s and later a Master’s Degree in English Education. I moved to Titusville, Florida in 1966 to accept my first teaching job and remained there to make it my home. I am married and have three adult children and twelve grandchildren.

After more than thirty years of teaching English, twenty-five of those years at Brevard Community College (now Eastern Florida State College), I am now retired and am enjoying having more time to read and continue  my writing. Over the years  I have been a member of several local writing groups, and my poetry and fiction have been published in a variety of literary magazines and anthologies. I have four published novels, Reparation (2013), published by the Florida Historical Society Press, Patchwork (2015), Tug of War (2017), and The McCormick Sisters (2019), all published by August Press.

  1. I love Ruth Rogers. She is so quiet, calm, composed, smart and would make a great friend. She is also clever , has written 2 books (that I know about) and so very modest.
she is very active in Friendship Fellowship Unitarian church and tackles any job with enthusiasm .
they are fortunate to have her as a member.

  2. I have enjoyed reading Ruth’s three earlier novels, and am now enjoying her fourth. It’s fun to see how the books develop the same characters in greater depth. Ruth is a wonderful writer, friend, and member of Friendship Fellowship, and does a great deal to further the education of our church children.

  3. I very much enjoyed reading Ruth’s first three books. Lost some sleep because I couldn’t put them down. Particularly enjoyed Reparation, it had a surprise ending I was not expecting.
